trueSpace is a 3D modeling, animation, and rendering application developed by Caligari Corporation (Caligari Corp.) for Windows. It features an intuitive, icon-driven interface and a unified workspace that enables creators to build polygonal models, rig and animate characters, apply materials and lighting, perform UV mapping, and generate both real-time previews and high-quality offline renders. The software supports plug-ins and a flexible scene hierarchy, and it can exchange assets through common formats such as OBJ, 3DS, DXF, and VRML/X3D for web-based 3D content.
Known for its approachable learning curve, trueSpace was widely used for illustration, game asset creation, product design, and architectural visualization. In 2008, following Caligari’s acquisition by Microsoft, the final major release (trueSpace 7.6) was made available at no cost, expanding access for hobbyists and educators.
